Cyprus

Sitting in the lobby of the hotel, waiting for the coach to pick us up to take us home. There's so much history around here, it makes me more aware of how in the passage of time, a lifetime is a blink of an eye. From Aphrodite to The romans, to the luisignans, Richard the Lionheart even stopped over here. The british colonials, Makarios... And, as a lifetime is so short, each moment is precious.

Why is so much precious time spent waiting for things to happen. Wouldn't it be great if this time could be used better. Maybe I'll phone a few people.

JUst for the record, we stayed athe hotel Agapinor. Its pretty awful, temperatures soaring, air-con inadequate at best, food like school dinners. At least I won't have put much weight on! I came to photograph a wedding, which was quite testing in this heat. Its an ambition fulfilled, and would love to do it again. The experience has been good, testing equipment, pushing limits, challenging the ordinary.

Time dilation theory and curry.

Aaargh! it's mid july already! Half a year gone already. Plans made and busted already. So much for selling my house and buying another. I sold the house, and the emotional wrench was horrendous. Didn't get very far buying another. We found one we wanted, had an offer accepted then found out that a very substantial part of the front garden still belonged to Barratts. Anyway, on with life's next big adventure - the awesome task of building extensions! Not just one, but three - a porch on the front, a new lounge on the back and a whole new space on the side.

About this time dilation theory, it may mean as time seems to speed up as I get older, time spent in a home for old biddies will seem like the blink of eye. Time spent working to fund said existence will stretch indefinitely, until the fateful day when no-one wants to hire me and it'll be a case of " oh, was that it?" so I'm going to live a bit. I've made the momentous decision that as I'll be overnight in Birmingham I shall visit the famous Balti triangle.

House hunting

it seems I have sold my house - I've taken a serious hit on the price, so I'm looking for a bargain. So far I've seen a beautiful house in a lovely location, but with no parking, an OK house in a nice location with lots of parking but no garden, and a nice big house with lots of parking and a decent size garden in an OK location.

Quantum realisation.

Just been to PTO in Egypt.

The update of myself and Hemlock deciding to learn more, get out more etc has been interesting. In the interests of learning more about quantum theory I've noticed that Dr Brian Cox is a very tasty chap and he can collide with me anytime.

Knowledge

Today Hemlock and I decided that apart from doing safe stuff that we enjoy, we should do something different, and hopefully more challenging. Several ideas were discussed, from parkour to skateboarding to philosophy. The decision however, is that we should study quantum mechanics. Watch this (interstitial) space. Any suggestions for reading matter, courses, websites, etc are most welcome.

Some things about the web are dreadful, but some things are brilliant. Wikipedia is one which is both, but usually brilliant. It seems they are a bit short of cash -

Happy new year

Hello to 2009.

I'm famous! Well, I'm one of the most famous Jeanette's in the world - just search for jeanette on google and I'm up there on the first page! Woohoo...

New Year. Resolutions. I do make them, and often keep them, sometimes fail them. So in the spirit of endless optimism, here are my New Years Resolutions for 2009.

1. Always to be on time.
2. Get fit, get gorgeous. I know, been here before... however this year its going to happen.
3. Move to a nice house in a nice place.
4. Network.
5. Meet loads of new people, make friends and stay in touch with old and new.

Retrospectively, we brought in the new year at a tapas bar in Crookes - excellent place. A bit noisy, but hey, who cares. Crookes looks like a pretty good place.
